And who knows, maybe I’ll even get back in the habit of posting more than once a month.

Something he does most every week without incident.  He decided to take the back road home, instead of the main road. 

There was just a thin layer of fresh snow on top of the hard packed snow from last week.  Hardly even noticable, until he tried to navigate a turn.

The road turned, the wheels on the truck turned, but unfortunately, the truck didn’t.

He slid off the road, and into a tree.

Thanks to God and seatbelts,  no one was hurt.  A bit shaken up, naturally, but not hurt. 

The truck on the other hand is a loss.

We’re lucky – it could have been so much worse.

Thankfully, in the mean time, Samie is willing to share her laptop with me.

But it’s not easy working from someone else’s machine.  All my “stuff” is on my computer.  I need to be making a spreadsheet of all the travel, and medical expenses, etc.  in prep for getting our taxes done, and I can’t do any of that until I get my computer back.

Basically, all I’m really able to do, is check my email, and cruise the internet.

I’ll try to keep posting here, but it won’t be as much fun, cause there’s no access to my pictures.

I guess I’ll go knit…

So while I’m letting my arm rest, I’ve been sewing.  Today I finished this block, that I started yesterday evening. 

This is the January block for this year’s Saturday Sampler series at the LQS.

After finishing the block, I made this rice bag and flannel cover.

Then I went to work on one of several blocks that I have yet to sew up for last year’s Snowflake Saturday Sampler quilt. 

This is the block for August.  I now have 12 blocks finished, and only 4 more to do.

The December block is now “in progress” – all the pieces are cut, and some are even sewn together. 

I’ve also sewn up these two little bags in the past few days.

They’re reversible, here’s the other side.

So I guess I’ll share these pictures from Christmas. 

This first picture was taken just a few minutes after Santa left.  (Click to make it bigger.) 

Look closely, just to the right of the table – Notice the grey furball hiding in among the presents.  Santa wasn’t even back in his sleigh yet, when Stormy crawled across all the packages, searching for a spot to claim.    

This next photo, shows the same space Christmas morning, after the presents had been opened.

Can’t you just hear him purring?  Silly cat!

Perhaps tomorrow, I can persuade one or two of them to tell of their adventure.

I found the pattern on Ravelry, of course - it’s the Leafy Surprise Cloth by Dione Read.  The pattern was quite easy to follow, and the knitting was quick. 

And on a totally unrelated note…  Ben cooked dinner this evening.  He made tacos, with spanish rice and refried beans.  It was his first time being responsible for the entire meal.  I was in the kitchen with him to offer guidance and to lend a helping hand.  Other than a bit of sass at the start (cause he didn’t want this job, it was thrust upon him), he did very well.  He doesn’t know it yet, but this is only the beginning of many meals to come that he’ll be cooking.  There’s no photo evidence, cause I didn’t think to take any until the meal was near gone.  Oh well, maybe next time.

The heels are turned, and the gusset stitches are picked-up, but the next clue won’t be posted til Friday.  Guess I’ll go knit up a dishcloth while I’m waiting.

But Sam did have school as second semester classes started today.

Ben and Levi occupied themselves with building with their Lego’s, and I believe some cleaning may have taken place in their room as well.  I haven’t looked in there yet to see, but I did witness the vacuum being carried up the stairs, and I heard it being used. 

The visitation service for Jeremiah’s friend’s mom was today, and JJ went to support his friend .  Jeremiah reports that the family is doing well, all things considered.  He and I will attend the funeral tomorrow.   

Sam had lunch out with a friend this afternoon, and is headed to Nana & Papa’s for the night after her class this evening.  She and Nana have “Monday night bonding time”, as this has been the routine since her classes started in the fall.

My day was filled with the usual – laundry, dishes, bill paying.  And once I post this, I hope to get some knitting done as well.
